A rare George II period mahogany bachelor's chest. (c. 1735 English.)

This is is the ultimate early George II period gem of mahogany cabinetmaking, sitting there now as a stylish, rich, mellow, and of course very useful piece of furniture. Ones eyes are drawn by the sophisticated details; from the re-entrant corners of the moulded top, to the brushing slide, the proportions of the graduated drawers jewelled by the Chinese taste pierced handles, and those lovely feet. Of course, one cannot help but smile at the beautiful colour and patina. This is more than just a chest of drawers!
