Chippendale Period Mahogany Bureau (c. 1765 England)
A fine quality and indeed rather rare George III period mahogany bureau. The exceptional and beautifully striking feature is the choice of perfectly book-matched veneers that grace not only the drawers and cross-banded and cleated fall front, but unusually also the top. The fall front opens to a nicely fitted interior and the whole fitted with beautiful handles and escutcheons, in the Chippendale manner. |
